Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation

 Anti-wrinkle injections using botulinum toxin can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, frown lines and crow’s feet (wrinkles around the eye) and give your face a smoother and more rejuvenated, youthful appearance.

This treatment can also be used to lift the brow (chemical brow lift), to raise a smile and to improve early jowls.

Treatment usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes, the treating area will be numbed to make sure you are as comfortable as possible during the injection. After the treatment, you may get some redness and swelling around the treatment sites, these side effects should quickly fade away. Some people can resume normal daily activities right after the treatment. The anti-wrinkle effect of the injections last from four to six months, and the effects can be maintained with occasional “touch-up” treatments. The initial effect is noticed in the first week and maximum effect is seen in 2 weeks after treatment.

The Botulinum toxin can be used for other reasons such as

· Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) –the effect lasts for approximately 6 months or more.

· Migraine

· To lower the eyelids in patients with thyroid eye conditions and/or protect the eye in patient with a facial palsy or chronic corneal ulcers

· Blepharospasm (a condition where the eyes close involuntarily) 

Pre-treatment Considerations

It is advisable to schedule the treatment on a separate occasion. On your first visit you will be asked to complete a questionnaire, providing information about your current and past health, if you are allergic to any medication, medications you take, any ocular surgery and/or any previous non-surgical aesthetic/cosmetic treatments, etc. 

Your pre-treatment visit will take about 25 minutes. If you wish to have your treatment on the same day you will need to make this clear when you book the appointment with us via phone or online. Please bring your old photos so then we can compare your current appearance with the old photographs and discuss in details your concerns and advise treatment suitable for you.

Before treatment, we will take photographs of your face and eyelids so that the results of your treatment can be compared with your original appearance. Please notice that the photographs are confidential and can only be used for any purpose other than your own records with your specific written permission. 

Post-operative Considerations

Please do not rub the eyes, avoid strenuous exercise, weight lifting or straining for 1 weeks. Avoid going to sauna, jacuzzi, swimming pool and avoid using alcohol, tobacco for 2 weeks. Do not touch the small injection sites.

BOTULINUM TOXIN FOR EXCESSIVE SWEATING

If you suffer from excessive sweating (technically called hyperhidrosis) and other available treatments don’t give you the relief, your next option could be Botulinum toxin. The areas commonly treated are underarms, hands, feet, face/head, a course of treatment takes no longer than few minutes to deliver. The maximum effect is seen after a week and the effect start to wear off in 4-6 months, it is possible to retreat the area every 4-6 months.

Dermal fillers are extremely effective, this treatment helps adding volume to deeper layers and hydrate superficial layers of the skin. The most popular areas are tear trough, nasolabial lines, lips and lateral brow, these procedures can be combined with traditional eyelid surgery called blepharoplasty.

The treated area is numbed prior to injection. After the procedure the area is usually red and swells for the first few days before settling down. Depending on type of fillers used the effect may last for 6 months up to 2 years.

Potential side effects with fillers to consider

1. Bruise at the injection point

2. Overfilling, lumps- this can be corrected by injection of medication dissolving a hyaluronic acid.

3.  Allergy to dermal filler, risk is low. 

4. Injection into a blood vessel causing blindness or an ulcer to the skin supplied by that blood vessel-this side effect is very rare.

5. Infection that then does not respond to antibiotics/ this is very rare.

Post-operative Considerations

Please do not rub the eyes, avoid strenuous exercise, weight lifting or straining for 5 days. Do not touch the small injection sites and make sure you sleep with the head raised approximately 30-40 degrees to reduce the eyelid swelling. Do not wear make up for at least 72 hours after the treatment.

A tear trough defect makes us look older than we feel, it is possible to rejuvenate and get rid off lower eyelid dark circles and dark hollows using a non-surgical aesthetic treatment. Injecting a soft tissue filler in the area of a tear trough offers immediate cosmetic results. The effects of the injections last approximately 12 months or more before repeat injections are required. You may get bruising and swelling, this usually takes a few days to subside. 

A thread facelift is a delicate, minimally invasive and most advanced procedure to gently lift and tighten the facial skin. Suitable candidates for thread-lift surgery are normally women and men aged 35 to 70 who want a more effective and permanent facial lifting effect. The thread-lift procedure involves very fine, surgical threads being inserted under the local anaesthesia into the subcutaneous tissue of the face, few millimetres underneath the skin´s surface to lift and support the sagging skin, giving a tighter and more youthful appearance. The procedure is sutureless, leaves no scares and has no downtime; it is safer than a traditional/surgical full facelift.

· The thread facelift works by the threads in the face stimulating the body’s own collagen in that area, restoring facial volume and smoothing out deep lines and wrinkles and improving elasticity. This procedure also improves the texture and firmness of the skin. You will enjoy a dual effect following this procedure, first you will notice an instant few centimetre lift created by the threads and then after 2 months after your treatment you will see a rejuvenating effect due to increased production of collagen, which is caused by the breakdown of the thread. The threads are biodegradable and are safely absorbed by the body; you may need to repeat the procedure in 6-12 months.

· This operation normally takes 30 minutes to one hour to complete, depending on the number of threads to be used and it can be combined with other anti-ageing procedures.

· Before you have a thread-lift you will need to have a consultation with a surgeon to see if you are a suitable candidate.

This procedure is not advisable in:

· Pregnancy, breastfeeding

· Patients taking anti-coagulations

· Patients with known autoimmune conditions

· Patients with very thin, fragile and sagging skin.

· Patients with little facial fat .

· Patients with unrealistic expectations 

Potential risks involved:

· Infection

· Numbness or lack of sensitivity in the treated area.

· Uneven or asymmetrical results 

· Migration of sutures, or sutures that become visible under the skin

· Slight bunching or puckering of the skin
